Engineering company Weir shares its overarching strategy for the African market and how it aligns with the evolving needs of the mining sector on the continent in a video interview with Mining Weekly at this year’s Investing in African Mining Indaba.

In addition to Weir’s South African presence, the company has a foothold in countries such as Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Botswana, Namibia, Senegal, Tanzania and Zambia. In addition, Weir’s three manufacturing centres in South Africa ensure high levels of local manufacture to promote African economies and streamline the supply chain to its customers.

Weir MD Africa Bridget Ledwaba discusses the role the company plays in shaping the future of minerals processing in Africa, particularly in terms of innovation and sustainable solutions.

This is in addition to Weir’s approach to delivering tailored solutions and how they impact on mining operations across Africa, especially in terms of productivity, cost efficiency and environmental compliance.

Ledwaba also unpacks some of the key challenges and opportunities Weir has encountered in Africa, and how the company is positioning itself to navigate these effectively.

She further highlights what African mines can expect from Weir, looking ahead, in terms of new technologies, partnerships or support to help them meet their operational goals.
